Not the full Britney

No, I’m not having a Britney Spears circa 2007 moment.

Well… not the full Britney.

I’ve simply reached the age where I’m attempting to embrace the mum haircut. As part of this minimally thought out decision, I’ll be chopping off a significant amount of hair and donating it to Wigs 4 Kids, an organisation that provides wigs to children experiencing hair loss due to cancer.

While a big haircut isn’t exactly a hardship, it does mean sacrificing some of life’s simple pleasures like making hair moustaches, dramatically flicking my hair over my shoulder when proving a point, and hearing regular complaints from Dylan and Archer after they discover yet another one of my hairs somewhere it has absolutely no business being.

The reality is that while I get to make the choice about cutting my hair, many children don’t get that choice. If my overdue haircut can help provide confidence and comfort to a child going through a difficult time, then that’s a pretty good reason to finally commit to cutting it.

So while there won’t be paparazzi photos, an umbrella attack, or a public statement about the pressures of fame, there will be a pair of scissors, a lot less hair, and hopefully some money raised for a fantastic cause.
