Angela

I have always believed that true love is found in those small gestures we give without thinking about what we will receive. When we give from the heart, we are not only helping others, but we are also helping ourselves, for the love we give returns to us multiplied, in the form of peace, happiness, and hope. Today, my hair is just a symbol, but what truly matters is the love behind this gesture, a love that is passed on to each child, to each family that needs it. My hope is that by doing this, I will inspire others to donate not only their hair but also their time, their care, and their support. Because, in the end, what really makes a difference is the love we give, the love we share. And that is the greatest gift we can offer. I am now waiting for my hair to grow back so that I can send it to you again.

Vishnu Babu Kodikulath

I love children, our culture states that children are equivalent to gods. And I am always happy to help people. My hair might help another individual, in return I am blessed. Thanks to kids with cancer for truly helping people. Cheers, Emerging social worker, Vishnu

4 years ago I shaved my hair and raised money, but my biggest regret was not donating my hair, so since then I have been growing my hair with the intention to cut and donate it ☺️ I just hope this can help make a child feel happy and comfortable again! Thank you!

Evannah, NT

My long, curly hair has always been one of my prides and joys, I loved my golden curls. But as I grew older and learnt that not every child gets to have the same enjoyment of having hair, it made me want to change that for someone, even if that was just for one child, I wanted them to know that they are loved and deserve to enjoy the same things that other children do. So, I vowed to myself that I would cut off my hair and donate it. It has been a few years since I made the vow to one day do so, but after letting my hair grow longer and healthier, I chopped it all off. And I wouldn't go back and change a thing, I am extremely pleased that my hair is now being used to make a difference in someone else's life.

Annie, VIC

My name is Annie and I am 9 years old. On Friday November 22nd, I had over 30cm of my hair cut off to donate to kids with cancer. I wanted to donate my hair to Wigs4Kids as I would imagine feeling really shy if I had cancer and I didn't have any hair. I want all kids to feel confident and believe in themselves. I wanted to help the kids and their families. I raised $2888. My first goal was $1500 but then I just kept wanting to go higher and higher! I loved the big haircutting event at my school! Even my hairdresser came and helped get my hair ready for the kids to cut it! I got to draw out 7 people's names who had donated, and they all got to cut a plait of my hair off!! I was nervous at the start but once Wil had cut the first plait off, I felt excited! I had so much fun! And my amazing principal got to cut the last plait off!! It was so special. I love that I was able to help others and I love my new hair!

My hair will grow back again but for a kid with cancer my hair can mean some self-esteem. Once I decided that I wanted to grow my hair to donate for a child, so they didn't have to go to school bald and be laughed at, I just took care of my hair and 30cm was my donation. It's important to have a trim of the split ends at least a few times. Do I miss my hair, no. It's fun being short. If you have long hair, it's a wonderful thing to do ... Go on grow and donate.

Victoria

My name is Victoria. I am 19 years old, studying a Bachelor degree of Creative Arts/Fine Arts at UOW. I have been growing my hair since 2017, with the intention to donate it after my year 12 formal. I realised how easy it was to grow my hair and was aware that there are many kids who are getting treatment for Cancer who have lost theirs. Cutting my hair, along with the donations made by my family and friends, and the support of my fantastic hairdresser ‘Edensor Hair’ was something I could do to support children who are fighting this horrible disease.

I cut my hair and fundraised to help sick kids throughout Australia. Not only will my lovely locks be used to make a wig, your donations to the cause that will allow Kids with Cancer Foundation to continue with their financial support of families that have a child suffering cancer. This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, so its time to do so!

Phoenix

Phoenix decided that his time with long hair was over, so we went to the barber where they sectioned the hair and cut off the ponytails, one by one. He would really like it donate his luscious locks, all 45 cm of it to kids who don’t get to have this choice about cutting off their hair and has chosen the Kids with Cancer Foundation.

Barak

My mother is a big advocate for stuff like this, donating when you can and helping others. It's something that she instilled in me as I grew up. I myself am a shy person, so when my mother told me I should cut my hair after 3 years of growth and donate it to Kids with Cancer Foundation the condition was that she did it with me.

Holly, SA

In 2022 we lost my dad to cancer and recently we were talking to Holly about cutting her hair so we explained that when Pop was sick, he started to lose his hair due to the chemo, we then explained that sometimes little kids get sick with cancer too and lose the hair and that can make them sad. We asked Holly if she would like to cut 20cm of her hair off. By doing this it will put a smile on their face. With everything we went through Holly understood and agreed to make the generous donation.

My best friend Henry is battling a brain tumour, and the treatment made him lose his hair. I cut my hair to accompany him but also to raise money and awareness about children going through this every day.

Ava, NSW

At the age of 6 Ava saw a story online where a sick child was being bullied at school for not having any hair. It made her very sad and felt so bad for them. I explained wigs are very expensive and that people can donate their hair to make wigs for kids with cancer. She decided then to grow her hair and donate it to help sick kids have nice wigs so they wouldn't feel sad or get bullied at school for looking different. She grew her hair for 2 years, and now loves her new hair.
