I'm raising money to help relieve the financial burden from families that have a child being treated for a cancer diagnosis.
In 2025 I made the move to working in an area of health where the word cancer is part of the everyday vernacular. During recent years family and others around me have been challenged with cancer experiences closer to home than we all would have imagined. The word cancer has become something which I commonly hear in my everyday life, it is a 6 letter word which holds a lot of uncertainty and often fear. I have seen a variety of journeys people can go through when battling cancer. Often confronting as people encounter their diagnosis, weigh up treatment options, live through treatment and at times do the best they can with the time they have.
With these thoughts and experiences in mind I am saying good bye to 30cm of my locks on 23rd May to stand with people, in particular kids who loose their hair related to their cancer treatment. Hair is simply not just a thin, protein filament…. Hair is an expression, it is an identifier, it is a creative outlet, it holds self esteem. I am cutting my hair to fundraise to support the creation of bespoke wigs for children, provide essential financial assistance to families in need, and funding within paediatric oncology hospitals across the country, ensuring that every child facing cancer receives the care and support they deserve.
