I'm raising money to help relieve the financial burden from families that have a child being treated for a cancer diagnosis.
I am cutting my hair to fundraise to support the creation of bespoke wigs for children, provide essential financial assistance to families in need, and funding within paediatric oncology hospitals across the country, ensuring that every child facing cancer receives the care and support they deserve.
Please support me in my fundraising journey, together we can make today easier for kids with cancer and their families.

A Wish for recovery: My hair donation
Friday 15th NovMarch 2021: A wish for recovery
March 2021, a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. It was a moment that changed everything, not just for her, but for all of us who loved and cared about her. As she began the battle with cancer, I wanted to do something meaningful to show my support. I have make a silent wish to donate my hair, a gesture that I hoped would make a small difference in her journey toward recovery.
A simple gesture:
At the time, I didn’t know how much my friend’s journey would impact me, but I knew I wanted to offer something more than words, but I can't . I can't even give her a big hug or giving my shoulder for her to cry because it was lockdown the whole world. It was the hardest time for everyone.
Hair loss is one of the toughest side effects of chemotherapy, and I wanted to give my friend a tangible reminder that she is not alone, but I can't even donate my hair back then. Because I just cut my hair short. Thus, I made a wish: “I am keeping my hair as long as my friend fully recover from cancer. If my hair can help even one person feel a little more like themselves, then it will be worth it. Although my friend is not wearing a wig throughout the process, but I'm sure someone out there need this.”
Reflecting in the journey:
So, now is the time for my hair donation, because my dear friend is fully recover and my hair finally long enough for the purpose. It wasn’t just about cutting off a few inches—it was about sending a message of love, hope, and solidarity. The process of keeping this hair since March 2021 wasn't easy. I am not a person like long hair, I am not a person like to let my hair down on my shoulder, I was afraid of hot all the time, I am the person never use hair care like conditioner, hair mask etc to my hair nice. But I have to use this to keep the hair long in good quality. Next Friday, 22/11/24 is the time for me to sit on the salon chair, to think about my friend’s strength, the difficult days she faced. I wish my small act might help brighten the cancer patient world.
I made that wish for recovery about three years ago, and I still carry it with me today: that my friend would not only heal physically but also find peace, comfort, and joy in every moment, no matter the struggle.
Why Hair Donation Matters:
Donating hair may seem like a small act, but for someone going through cancer treatment, it can make a world of difference. A wig made from real hair can help restore confidence and offer a sense of normalcy during a difficult time. It’s a reminder that there are people out there who care and want to help—sometimes in ways that are unexpected but deeply meaningful.
To My Dear Friend:
I hope this blog serves as a small reminder that you are always in my heart. 45 months ago, I made a wish for your recovery, and I still believe in it today. Your strength has been an inspiration to me, and I’m so grateful to be a part of your journey. I’m here, always, cheering you on.
Love,
Meiko
Amazing work!
