Tandja Perry

Donate Now and see Tandja go BALD for a good cause!!

I'm shaving my head for kids throughout Australia.

I am raising money to help relieve the financial burden from families that have a child being treated for cancer.

Your donation will allow the Kids with Cancer Foundation to continue supporting these families and help relive their financial burdens. In this way they can focus on the more important things.

Please donate to my fundraiser and share it with your family members, friends, in your workplace and with your hobby group.

Together I know we can make a difference.

Shaving My Head on July 16th or Once We have Reached the $2,000 goal. Whichever one comes first.

Saturday 13th Jan
The anniversary of the day we rushed our baby boy to the hospital was July 16th 2023. In honour of the day that changed everything for us, we have selected that as our end date for shaving my head. Unless of course we reach the $2,000 goal first, in which case I will shave it off sooner.

Bald Styles

Thursday 11th Jan
There are many different styles to the bald look. Be it the clinical look of Dr evil, the punk rock style of the late Sinead O'Conner, the  middle aged dad look of Walter White and Gru, the British classic of Professor Xavier or even the scruffy badass style from any one of the latest Fast and Furious leads.
Since I have to decide what look I'm going to go with, send me a message and tell me what you think my bald style should be.
I personally think I could carry them all off.

Why? Why do this and why does it matter to me?

Thursday 11th Jan
Back in July last year, my then nine month old son was taken to the children's hospital for a bacterial infection that had developed into a cyst in his neck and was making it's way down to his chest. We spent a week in hospital and  it was absolutely terrifying, as any parent who has had to rush their child to the hospital can tell you.
While at the hospital, the ward where we were admitted, was beside the  children's oncology ward. We met several parents there and it was a profound experience. Our little one was sick but he would get well; the infection would be fixed with a course of strong antibiotics and possible surgery.  We barely slept that week or showered or changed clothes. We looked haggard but still we could see that we were doing a lot better then the parents from the oncology ward. Our experience of a mere week in the hospital was nothing compared to theirs. What they were living through showed in their eyes as a waking nightmare. My husband and I walked away from the experience with our healthy baby boy and a new found respect for the strength shown by those families. The chats we had with them, their friendly hopefully conversations have replayed in our minds often.
We were at home recently and I mentioned to my husband how I had been wanting to do something to help. It didn't have to be huge but I wanted to do something to support those families and show them that they weren't alone.  I had realised that to help, you didn't need to wait until the disease touches you personally or someone you love.
My hair is nothing special; it's overly thick, mousey brown and has lots of fly aways, but if it it can help, even in a small way, I will gladly shave it off.
